I’m not writing about writing again today. This is getting to be a habit, I know, but there are so many things to do and places to go and people to meet, that I’m having trouble staying focused on my writing life. The truth? I don’t even feel the least bit guilty.
Last week, just before my son came to visit, my camera and I visited the Trial Gardens at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Today, tomorrow, and Sunday, you’ll be touring the gardens with me, first for the overall view from all directions, then to look at colors, and finally to enjoy the variety of textures and shapes. So here we go, looking across the gardens toward the southwest:
And another view toward the northwest with the gazebo in the foreground:
And this one aimed a bit more toward the north:
On a beautiful day like this one, there will be those who stroll through the gardens, or sit under a tree with a picnic lunch, or just perch on the wall near the gazebo and enjoy the view. Like these two folks:
And just to lure you back for tomorrow’s show of color, here’s another view of one of the flower beds:
Hope to see you back tomorrow for Part II. We’ll get so close, you might even be able to smell the begonias.

Carol, drop by if you can. I know how weekends are. I’m pre-scheduling my posts because my cousin is joining me for the weekend. We’ll hit the Farmer’s Markets and then enjoy an evening performance at a dinner theater. Since my dear husband doesn’t enjoy those activities, it will be a girl’s night out (and we’re seeing “Defending the Caveman”). Lots of laughs.

Good morning, ladies. I was just looking at my own photos and wondering why I made this group medium size instead of large. Oh, well, I’m testing large photos tomorrow so we’ll see how that goes.
Diane, Orton Plantation sounds like a cool place to visit. I remember seeing gardens in Mississippi many years ago and in Montreal as well. Spectacular design and color. There’s also a Botanic Gardens in Denver I should see one of these days. So many flowers…
Hi Ann, the only thing I can tell you is keep trying and never give up. The first time I got a look at my editor’s suggestions and edit requirements, I almost had a heart attack. But I learned so much in the process that I’m now teaching self-editing to beginning writers. It’s all part of the process.

Pat: From these beautiful photos I can see why my friends whom I told you about retired to Ft. Collins! Yes. There “are so many things to do and places to go and people to meet.” The last few days as I’ve struggled with the second edits on my book that just arrived from the publisher, I’ve been pondering what’s REALLY important. There are so many “writers” out there, good ones who never get published. And maybe I won’t be able to get this book the way the publisher wants it. Maybe I’ll “fail.” But if I do, so what? I know I’ll keep writing, BUT there ARE “places to go and people to meet.” I enjoy your writing posts, but I really like “people and places.”!!! Family, friends. The human connection. Thank you so much!

Beautiful! I have a million things to do tomorrow away from the computer, but I’m making a note to be back here at least once over the weekend. Thanks for sharing.
