This is what I call an I/me post.
Why am I whining?
Because:
1. I am seriously sleep-deprived.
Katrina Katie Kitten has required a lot of extra TLC and medicating as we try to get a diagnosis on her gastrointestinal problems. I get up with her at night, sometimes twice. I keep saying I’m going to take a nap in the afternoon when the kitten tends to sleep at least two hours straight, but I haven’t done it yet.
2. I am way behind on my To Do List (which is partly why I haven’t taken that nap yet).
We’re roaring up on April and the A to Z April Blog Challenge 2011, yet I haven’t visited hardly any blogs or left comments since the kitten got sick a month ago. I need a theme for my April posts, a plan, and some of the posts written ahead of time. And then there are the rest of the To Dos that need attention ASAP.
3. I haven’t worked on either of my manuscripts for months.
It’s time to regroup.
There’s nothing better to energize and motivate a writer than a writers’ conference, so I’ll be at the Northern Colorado Writers Conference March 11-12 in Fort Collins.
Although I’ll be home at night, Darling hubby will be primary kitty caregiver this weekend, dispensing meds and hopefully tending to any necessary night duties (insert a snort here).
Meanwhile, I have four days to catch up on my sleep, charge through the To Do List, and force myself to stop whining.

Patricia, I hope your little kitten gets to feeling better. You’re such a good kitty mom. 😉
I hope you get caught up soon. *Hugs*

Your kitty is like a newborn. I know those moments of not getting a thing done. As you also know, soon everything will be back to normal.
JTS says
I’m beginning to believe that tired and behind are permanent states of existance, because I feel that way most days, but I still have hopes of getting more sleep, feeling more rested, and accomplishing lots more. Hope springs eternal! I adore you for your devotion to Kitty, and I hope you’ll both be doing fine a little further down the road. Enjoy the conference!!
Ann Best says
I hope the kitty’s going to be okay. I wondered why I hadn’t “seen” you for awhile on my blog.
But life comes first! And sleep is vital!! How well I know. My daughter rarely wakes me at night, but when she does, I’m zapped.
I’m having all the problems you’re having. I can’t seem to get organized so I can write another memoir. I tried today. And I want to read and write reviews, and and and….
Kitty and sleep come first. Take a nap!

I like the idea of wine for a whine!
Hope your kitty gets well soon.
It’s so hard to do it all and write as well. You are amazing!

A glass of wine can do wonders for whining: )
I hope Katrina Katie Kitten feels better soon.
Enjoy the conference.
Cricket McRae says
Hope Katie Kitty recovers soon, and glad you got some sleep last night. The NCW Conference will certainly recharge your batteries even more.
Ever try taking a few things off your to-do list? If you’re like me, (though you’re probably much more efficient) there are always a few things that never get done, and deciding ahead of time what they are can be freeing!
Talli Roland says
Wow, sounds like it’s been a tough time. Hope the kitty feels better soon – poor thing. And enjoy the conference!
Elizabeth Spann Craig/Riley Adams says
Hope Katie Kitty is better soon and that you’re able to catch up on some sleep!
Kay Theodoratus says
Hope Katie’s better soon. Sounds like a long ordeal.
Also, thanks for the insights into the A-Z bit.
Suzanne says
I’m sure you’ll come back from the Writer’s Conference revitalized and with ideas for at least half the A-Z posts. I’m starting my list today, so I can get going on post-dating my posts for April. I’m excited about the challenge.
Elspeth Antonelli says
There’s nothing wrong with a bit of whining, if nothing else it gets it out of your system. I’ve found whining helps; focusing on what I’m whining about usually allows me to see the issue (or issues) in a different light. Or, the whining turns to whimpering. Never belittle the benefits of a good whimper. Although, I must warn you, animals tend to look at you oddly.
The Old Silly says
Love this post, lol. I too, am occasionally guilty of whining. I catch myself (hopefully earlier than later), slap myself, and get my s**t together so I can get a grip and get it done instead of pining over it NOT getting done.
So yeah, I can relate!
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Enjoy the conference. And everyone seems to be enjoying your comments on the Challenge at my blog today.
Arlee Bird says
My to do list usually causes me to fall asleep for a few power naps during the day. Sleep deprivation can be tough. I’m not really doing any special theme for my A to Z posts–I’m just writing posts as I come up with an idea that fits a letter.
Just take it easy and enjoy life!

I’m regrouping! And cats are so good at disrupting our lives, aren’t they?
Hart Johnson says
I hope your kitty gets a good diagnosis and then gets WELL! It’s so sad to have a sick pet–they don’t understand and you can tell they’re miserable.
Hope the conference is great and you get your rest!
Patricia Stoltey says
I wrote this “poor us” post last night, and we’re all better this morning. Nothing like a good night’s sleep…
Karen Walker says
Hope kitty gets better soon, Patricia. Lack of sleep does not make for a happy person – I know from personal experience. Good luck regrouping.

Carol Kilgore says
Poor Kitty. Poor you. Hope something helps her soon. Have fun at the conference!
Mary Vaughn says
Everyone needs time to regroup. For me, putting it on a list is almost a guarantee it won’t get done. I defeat myself with lists.
welcome to my world of poetry says
Patricia I do hope kitty gets better and you catch up on your sleep.
Take care.
Yvonne.

Pat – I think we all need to “recharge our batteries” at times, and you’ve certainly been through the wringer lately. I’m glad you’ve got that writing conference coming up, and I hope you have a wonderful experience!
You’re in my thoughts as you work to help Katrina get better!
