One of these days I’m going to:
1. Take a ride in a hot air balloon
2. Ask a biker to take me for a (short) ride on a Harley (as research for my next suspense novel)
3. Eat movie popcorn one more time (haven’t done that in years)
4. Buy a leather jacket
5. Get my face painted during some festival or other (just me and the rest of the little kids)
What are you going to do one of these days?
Patricia Stoltey says
That’s a deal, Angela.
Angela says
Well I would happy to paint your face–I do a mean kitty.
Patricia Stoltey says
Carol, I’m no good at pie crust either. But even more than that, I’d like to learn to make decent gravy.
Diane, I went to an early morning balloon launch one time, but that’s as far as I’ve dared go. I do think it would be lots more fun to go with a friend…
Jemi, you can go too. We’ll have a blast. As for the art classes, go for it. I’m not an artist at all, but the classes were fun. I think painting releases stress.
Dean, we’ve discussed that before. I need a rowboat with an anchor, a cane pole and bobber, a container of red worms, and a great book. That’s fishing! 🙂
Dean K Miller says
I’m going to get you on the river with a fly rod in hand!
Jemi Fraser says
Those are awesome! I’d love to do the hot air balloon too. I’m going to learn to oil paint one of these days – or take another kind of art course!
L. Diane Wolfe says
I’ll come with you in the balloon! I’ve been in one before, but we were teathered and never rose very high.
Carol Kilgore says
One of these days I’m going to learn to make pie crust and biscuits. I’ve never been successful at either.
Patricia Stoltey says
I like that one. Maybe it will be lobster…
Jenny says
One of these days, I’m going to order the most expensive item on a menu.
Patricia Stoltey says
Kathleen, you are definitely on the right track. I’ve been laying off the beer and chocolate, too, but I know I have one of those Rochefort Belgian ales stashed in the back of the refrigerator…
Kathleen Kaska says
Something I haven’t done is a long time: eat a chocolate bar and drink a beer.
Patricia Stoltey says
Ah, reminding me there are consequences for such rash behavior, Alex? I know. The movie popcorn will probably remain a “one of these days” possibility without ever becoming reality. 🙂
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
You’ll enjoy the popcorn and afterwards be reminded why you don’t do that often!
One of these days I’m going to watch the entire LOTR trilogy extended editions in order. Just need to block out ten hours of my day…
Hilary Melton-Butcher says
Hi Patricia .. I could do that .. sounds ideal – just need the quiet too .. but one other thing I’d love to do is go to some of the cookery schools and do some classes ..
Cheers Hilary
Patricia Stoltey says
Heidi — Queries — yes, I’m almost as bad. I put them off for the longest time…
Hilary, how about the south of France? In a villa close to a small town with lots of great restaurants.
Hart, I’ve never been on a cruise either. I’d like to do the Alaskan one…or that coastal cruise in Norway.
Kathryn, that’s a great “one of these days” idea…and I’ll bet there are some wonderful schools in the south of France…
Kathryn Elliott says
Cooking school! I would love to move beyond heat & serve.
Hart Johnson says
Oh, great list! I like that balloon idea. I am sort of past my desire to bungee jump, but a balloon would be good.
One of these days I will go on a Cruise. Most of my ‘One of these days’ things, I am just short the cash for. other stuff, I pretty much just do.
Hilary Melton-Butcher says
Hi Patricia .. hot air balloon does sound fun in a hot country – perhaps where Karen went.
First I need a good rest and sleep in a warm sunny country, with a lovely beach and some beautiful salads, sea-food .. and quiet space to read some books …
Then – who knows .. trips to meet everyone? Cheers ahd have a great weekend .. Hilary
Heidi Windmiller says
I love getting my face painted!
Maybe I have a one track writing mind, but the first thing I thought is: one day I am going to query.
In five years of writing everyday and taking it seriously, I’ve never queried. I just haven’t felt ready yet. But I feel like I’m getting close, which is exciting and scary and exhilarating.
Patricia Stoltey says
LOL, Laura. You’re braver than I am. I was thinking of a kayak on a nice calm lake.
Pat, skydiving and bungee jumping will never go on my bucket list. I’d have a heart attack!
Pat Tillett says
Skydive! I’m not afraid of planes, but I’m deathly afraid of jumping out of planes…
Laura M. Campbell says
I’ve never been on a Harley, but I have rode around on a crotch rocket, the Asian speed bikes, a couple times. I also got my face painted a couple years ago at the Philadelphia ComiCon. There’s pictures. I loved it!
One of these days I will take a kayak down a category 5 rapid and hike part of the Appalachian Trail.
Patricia Stoltey says
Margot — I should add a kayak ride to my list…although I’m more afraid of that than I would be a canoe.
Hi Karen — Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I hadn’t given any thought to what that leather jacket might be made of. I may have to rethink that “want.”
Karen Walker says
Hi Patricia – haven’t connected with you in awhile.
I just did my first hot air balloon ride over Coppadocia in Turkey. It was awesome – highly recommend it. I almost bought a leather jacket in Turkey as well, but when they said they use baby lambs to make it, I just couldn’t do it.
I guess I just did my one of these days adventures.
Karen
Margot Kinberg says
Pat – Oh, what a fun question! Hmmm… One of these days I’m going to go for a canoe ride.
