Guilty (Oops! I mean Genre) Favorites Blogfest

September 17, 2012 By: Patricia

Thanks to Alex J. Cavanaugh and his Guilty Genre Favorites Blogfest, I have a chance to spend today connecting with a few old blogger friends and meeting some new ones. To see the linky list of participants, hop over to Alex’s blog.

My guilty genre favorites are:

MOVIES

Musicals, musicals, musicals. I love them all. Oldies like Singin’ in the Rain, An American in Paris, and Funny Face or broadway hits like Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ, Superstar, or new stuff like Rock of Ages — even drama with music like The Way We Were and Nashville.

MUSIC

I’m into easy listening light rock/country pop.

Okay, that’s not a real genre, but that’s the kind of music I hear on the radio station I prefer…granted, it’s a mixed bag, but at least I don’t have to listen to much rap or hard rock. I like everything from Total Eclipse of the Heart to Black Horse and the Cherry Tree to Before He Cheats.

BOOKS

This one is hard because I read in all genres, but I guess I’d have to pick crime fiction as my favorite. I can’t even pick some examples because I love so many mystery/suspense/thriller authors.

GUILTY PLEASURE GENRE

No contest. It’s family-friendly feel good movies like We Bought a Zoo, Seabiscuit, Overboard, and The Pursuit of Happyness.

Thanks, Alex. You keep coming up with these fun ways to bring bloggers together. I’m glad I could participate in this one.

Hello, Patricia. I love musicals, too. I loved the Jesus Christ Superstar shout-out. I was lucky enough to see the show twice. I’m more of a West Side Story fan than Seven Brides. Just sayin’.
    Thanks for sharing.

Musicals can be great to watch. (And though I didn’t think I’d like it, I enjoyed watching The Phantom of the Opera.)

    Great choices!

    Hi, Pat,

Dropping in from the blogfest. So nice to meet you,

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, ’50’s musicals and you hit on two of my absolute favs… Funny Face and Singing in the Rain…. Well anything with Gene Kelly is usually awesome.

Feel good movies ARE the best.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by — instead of answering comments individually here, I’m trying to visit your blogs and respond there instead.

But a note to Alana. If I lived someplace where a lot of stars wandered around like regular people, I’d have a terrible time not acting like a groupie. {D

Glad to see you like country music. Since I live in Nashville, I’m surrounded by it and I love the atmosphere. I saw Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman at the grocery the other day. Also, Robert Plant, man….:)

I love that you chose musicals. I didn’t even think of doing that since there are so few new ones released these days, but they are definitely a favorite – especially the oldies.
