Yolanda the Yakky Yak
She didn’t grunt, she didn’t moan, she didn’t bawl, and she didn’t cry. Yolanda just went yak, yak, yak all day long and sometimes half the night.
The big herd to which she belonged tried several times to tame her yakking and engage Yolanda in real conversation, but Yolanda didn’t take kindly to interruption or debate or correction or any other attempt to interrupt or dominate.
“Yak, yak, yak, yak,” on and on she’d go.
“Yolanda, here’s what I think—”
“Yak, yak, don’t interrupt,” she’d say.
“But Yolanda, you don’t know what you’re—”
“Yak, yak, I know better than you.”
“Yolanda, stop, you’re driving us crazy and—”
“Yakkity yak, don’t talk back.”
The rest of the herd decided Yolanda wasn’t worth the trouble, so they all learned to tune her out. She was so busy yakking that she didn’t even notice no one was listening.

Hi Patricia .. great yakkyti yak post .. I’m sure I do too many interruptions – I try desperately not to .. but I do stop, listen and ask questions ..
Love this one – oh boy avoid the permanent talkers all the time! Mind you we do love the sound of our own voices … yakkatiyak! Cheers Hilary
She probably didn’t care that no one was listening since she wasn’t interested in any responses anyway.
Yup, I know a couple people like that.
Now I have to think twice to have Yolanda accompany us on that long awaited Monggolian trek where you want to listen to nature and not tune in to your ipod. This require a Yak counsel meeting indeed 😉
My sister-in-law is like that! My mother taught me that it’s rude to interrupt, but with Jenny one simply has to.
Nothing worse than someone who won’t stop yakking away. Too bad sometimes it’s not always so easy to tune them out!
I know some Yolandas….
Yakity yak, don’t talk back! Loved that song, and love your post, too. Fun! 🙂
Great post Patricia, enjoyed the read.
Yvonne.
Pat – Yup – that’s how it is. Yak too much and people tune you out. Hopefully Yolanda will learn her lesson before it’s too late…
Yak yak yak – I know someone like that 🙂
