I am happy to announce my craving has been satisfied and I can now get back to manuscript revisions.
West Nile Virus and Spraying for Mosquitoes
I had to take a break yesterday afternoon and cover the important plants in my garden because the first of two sprayings for the nasty little mosquito that carries West Nile Virus was scheduled for last night. This annoying and dangerous creature has been super active in our part of the state this year. With lots of locals and visitors expected for a popular summer festival this weekend, and the upcoming crowds of bikers and spectators expected for this loop of the Pro Challenge later in August, the folks in charge of protecting our health and welfare made the decision to spray.
We’re all pretty unhappy about the spray, but we’d be even more unhappy if one of us or our loved ones contracted a serious case of West Nile, a disease akin to St. Louis encephalitis.
