Mercury is in retrograde October 21st to November 10th. I have no idea what this means, but it sounds ominous.
I checked The Farmers Almanac. It suggests one shouldn’t sign contracts during this time and that plans could go haywire. That’s scary. If I’m presented with a contract, I’ll be afraid to sign.
Not!
Another annoying thing. I have a pain in the neck. Literally. I think it’s from sitting in an easy chair with bad posture while using my laptop. I’m going to skip that habit for a while and sit up nice and straight at my desktop computer.
Here’s another one. I didn’t watch the CSU-Wyoming game on TV yesterday because I didn’t want to watch CSU blow its lead in the second half and lose. It’s too depressing to see that happen.
So, of course, CSU didn’t blow its lead. Instead, the team beat the Cowboys big time and took back the boot trophy they hadn’t won since 2008.
I guess I’m a fair weather fan. I just wish someone would tell me when the weather is going to change.
Last of all. I’ve committed to doing NaNoWriMo. Even signed in to the website and declared my novel’s genre (Mystery/Suspense/Thriller). Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to decide which idea I’m going to pursue. Or whether I’ll write in first or third person. Or whether my audience will be adult or YA. Time is running out. Must make up my mind soon.
That’s all.
Jan Morrison says
Yay for NaNoWriMo – not doing it myself this year as I have five manuscripts in need of work but I applaud your sally forth attitude! And never mind stoopid Mercury – it is always going retrograde – it is just astrology speak for bad hair day – nothing serious. I made it to Labrador a week and a bit ago and am now finally connected. I’ll be by again – put the kettle on!
E.J. Wesley says
Sorry to hear about your neck troubles, Patricia! Dealing with anything more than a couple of ibuprofen can fix = no fun in my book…
Huh-oh, you’ve created some negative karma with your football team. Laws of sports superstition mandate that you no longer watch them play until they lose again. 😀
Good luck with NaNoWriMo!

Patricia Stoltey says
I’ve finally picked a topic and character for my NaNo novel. Now for that sketch of an outline.
LD Masterson says
When I want to watch a game but don’t want to see my team blow it, I read while watching. If things are going well, I forget to look at the book. If things are going badly, I dive into the story. It provides the necessary distraction from my “fan pain” but lets me jump right back if the game takes a turn for the better.
Best of luck with NaNo.
John Paul McKinney says
Good luck on the NaNoWriMo, Pat. The reason I sometimes get a pain in the neck (the physical sort) is bad posture while sleeping- e.g., head not high enough, etc. Walking straight upright with my palms facing in towards my body, thumbs forward, really seems to help. Sandy, a trainer at the gym, taught me that trick.
Rachel Morgan says
I’m also doing NaNoWriMo this year! Good luck!
Prashant C. Trikannad says
In India, there are certain periods or days when doing anything good like signing a house deal or getting married or buying a new refrigerator is considered a bad omen, according to the Hindu calendar. So you wait it out.
Nicole Zoltack says
I love Nano! Good luck!
Patricia Stoltey says
To add insult to injury, I did watch my Broncos lose to Indianapolis yesterday. For a while, I thought they were going to get crushed, but the Broncos came back in the second half, although not quite enough.
Susan Gourley/Kelley says
Good for you for NaNo. I’m too busy with promotion and I have that pain in my neck too. I know it’s from too much time on the computer.
Margot Kinberg says
Pat – I’m sorry to hear about your neck. I hope you do feel better. And I heard the CSU game was good; I feel badly that you missed it. As to Mercury in retrograde? I don’t know enough about to say anything intelligent other than if I get a publishing contract during that time, I ain’t gonna wait on it…
Julie Luek says
Oh good for you for NaNo. How do you balance it all?
I let my “boys” watch the games then can tell from their yelling if it’s a good game or not. And really, that’s all I need to know.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Good luck with NaNo!
You could always tape those games and watch them later if your team wins. I have a friend who does this because he says it’s too tense watching them live.
Lorelei says
must be why the TV went out (retrograde). Either that or we just need a new one.
Good luck with Nano. I never do it. I don’t want to hurt myself. (^;
Have a good one, Patricia!
