As I told one of my writer friends, the second half of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is a slippery slope.
This is where I let my mind wander, take a day off from blog hopping, don’t stay two scheduled posts ahead, and then risk panic.
What if my visitors stop coming? What if I don’t get more comments today than I did yesterday? What if I fail the challenge?
Well, I won’t die, that’s for sure. But I will be disappointed. So, I’ll soldier on and finish the month without goofing off too much more than I already have.

Would you believe I couldn’t think of a title I’ve read that starts with N? I couldn’t believe it either. It’s probably just a bad case of A to Z Brain Freeze.
Feel free to throw out a few suggestions.
Word of the Day: Nocturnal
This is not a word that describes me. I start to fade around eight p.m. so I’m not good for much but watching a little television…mostly stuff that doesn’t require concentration. I’m usually in bed before eleven.
I suppose I have to admit I’m not much of an early morning person either. I like mornings, but I want them to be quiet. No talking. Just reading the paper and drinking coffee.
What about you? Are you a night owl?

Hi Pat,
You are awesome! I have loved your posts and all the neat information and new book ideas. (For me to read, that is)Hang in there. I like to hit the sack around 9:00 but that is when my cats want play time. So I end up reading for a while. But for writing I need to lock myself at my desk in the mornings. After I feed the animals that is.
Yolanda Renee says
I’ve become both because of my hubby’s work schedule. It works, but I prefer the mornings!
Rhonda Blackhurst says
Used to be a night owl, but the past decade or so my 22-year-old son is impressed if I make it past 9:00. haha!

Do you use Goodreads to keep track of books read/books you want to read? I personally love it, and relied on it entirely for this year’s A to Z theme (as well as 2012’s :)).
I think at this point of the A to Z, everyone is feeling fatigue. And of course it gets even worse by the end. But all we can do is keep soldiering on! 🙂

Hi Patricia,
Nice feature on today’s author. Perhaps you might think of a book at a later time.
I forgot what sleep was, so I’m not sure what kind of bird I am. Heck, I’m in every time zone but the one I live in.

Hi,
That is so good to hear. I too am a morning person who likes her peace and quiet. I like writing in the mornings and usually I am not approachable before eleven a.m. As for the evening, I can deal with it because i try to take a nap around five and then get up and write and answer emails afterward.
Just dropping by from the A to Z Blog Challenge.
Shalom,
Patricia

I don’t think I was ever to keep those kind of hours, Crystal. If I don’t get my eight hours of sleep, I feel (and act) like a zombie. 😀
Crystal Collier says
I’m SUCH a night person. You know how everyone has their writing prime time? For me that starts about about 7 PM and runs until around 2 AM. I wish there was a way to rectify that around being a mommy and wife, but there really isn’t. I just have to squeak in the writing where if fits around real life.

How could I not remember a Mike Befeler book? Thanks, Margot.
Alex, I haven’t stayed up on New Year’s Eve for years. We live in Mountain Time and watch the ball drop in Times Square on Eastern Time so I can still get to bed early.
I need a second wind, too, Madeline. I hope to get a few posts ahead today so I can relax.
Damyanti and Rachna, I don’t dare try to read in bed anymore. I’d like to reinstate my early morning reading hour so I can get caught up on my TBR list.
Hi Dean — I can see the early morning fishing — that would awesome. Writing at night is something I cannot do. I get stupid when I’m tired.
Dean K Miller says
I’ll “nocturnalize” as long as it serves whatever purpose I feel needs serving.
A chilled but sunny morning to fly fish is always worth the early wake up.
My writing does okay either morning or night.
Empty on “N” reads as well. Guess we need to write one!

Yes, I am a night owl, especially when I am reading a murder mystery or a thriller.
D Biswas says
Yes, I’m nocturnal, especially when I have a good book!

I’m hoping for a second wind soon re the Challenge.
I’m definitely more of a morning person than a night person. I think it’s the morning coffee that helps me be alert and creative. 🙂

I’m not nocturnal anymore. New Year’s Eve is such a challenge now.
Enthusiasm seems to wane in the middle of the Challenge, but so far most still seem excited. The world won’t cave if we slack a little though.

Pat – I must say, I’m definitely not a night owl. Sometimes I wish I were, but that’s just not the way I’m made.
And about N books? There’s Mike Befeler’s Nursing Homes are Murder, coming out next month, or so I hear.
