Tending to my website between book releases turned out to be more like NOT tending to my website. I was shocked to see that I hadn’t done anything over there since 2010. I hadn’t even put the e-book covers front and center. (Hanging my head in shame!)
It’s updated now.
And I’ve done the little soft reveal of my book cover on the website and on my blog.
Now I’m working on all the other places I’ve registered at over the last five or six years where bios and announcements and photos need to be updated.
The list is longer than I realized:
Personal Website and Blog
Goodreads
Library Thing
Facebook
Twitter
Northern Colorado Writers
Raintree Writers Website/Blog
Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Blog (editor bio)
Mystery Writers of America
Rocky Mountain Mystery Writers of America
Sisters in Crime
Google+
WordPress
Amazon Author Central
Barnes and Noble PubIt
NaNoWriMo
That’s just the ones I remember so far.
So back to work.
Please join me here tomorrow when journalist/author David Freed is my guest. His new Cordell Logan mystery, Voodoo Ridge, is scheduled for hardcover release on Friday.

Pat, I have to do this from time-to-time as my resume and bio information changes. I like the background look of your blog and can’t wait to read your book!!!

Hi Patricia .. great timing as I’m moving forward and will need to do some of these things – set them up.
You don’t mention LinkedIn .. only I keep getting requests from bloggers and just thought I’d mention it ..
Thanks for the list! Cheers Hilary

That’s a lot of places to update! I always feel like I’m breaking the universe when I tinker with those things ๐

Pat – That’s the downside of having a presence on a lot of web places. Keeping up with them and updating them when needed can be a huge task. I ought to look at mine…

Hi Emily and Stephanie — I’m definitely happy but a little crazed about all there is to do. Maybe a power nap would help. ๐
Stephanie Faris says
Exhausting! I didn’t even have an Amazon author page until someone told me I didn’t. I had no idea. Nobody really hands over a how to book for all of this stuff! Then once you get it all settled, another book comes out and you have to update everything again. Good problem to have, though, right?!
Emily R. King says
Yep, that’s a lot to do! Everything requires maintenance, even social media. I wish we could get a break!
Patricia Stoltey says
I didn’t realize how many places I had even a tiny presence until I started making the list, Alex. This could take awhile.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Wow, that’s a lot of places! I’m only on a couple sites, but I sometimes forget to update the pages on my blog.
