I decided to pick the one thing that helped get me through my 2015 trials and tribulations (broken bone in foot, knee replacement surgery, etc.) and I’ve chosen authors.
Whenever things got a little tough, I grabbed another book, fiction or non-fiction, and read until my eyes crossed. I’ve read in my easy chair with an ice pack on whatever hurt at the moment, I’ve read in bed, I’ve read on the exercise bike….
I read nonfiction such as Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic and Ben Carson’s One Nation.
I read historical romance like Pamela Nowak’s Escaping Yesterday.
I read creepy horror and historical horror by Kenneth Harmon (The Amazing Mr. Howard and The Devil’s Lament).
I read YA/MG mystery such as Bonnie Ramthun’s The White Gates.
And so many more.
Right now I’m reading The Cypress House by Michael Koryta.
To all the wonderful authors who’ve provided inspiration and escape for me as I recover from my repairs, thank you.

I couldn’t possibly agree more, Pat. Books get you through so much, don’t they? Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, too, Margot. It snowed quite a bit here (finally), so I’ll be staying close to home and reading lots more this weekend. The Cypress House is really good and the first time I’ve read anything by Michael Koryta. I’ll be adding more of his books to my TBR list.
