There’s a lot of this kind of thing going on. Katie Cat continues to sneak around the house, looking for chances to get closer to Sassy without Sassy seeing her. When the dog was asleep in her bed in the living room a couple of days ago, Katie tiptoed in and got close enough to sniff the dog’s fur. Yesterday Sassy did the same thing to the cat after nonchalantly walking by and then sticking her nose on the cat’s back for a quick sniff. You should have seen the indignant look on Katie Cat’s face.
It’s very entertaining, that’s for sure.
This week’s guest author
Please stop by on Thursday to meet my guest, Janet Dawson. Janet writes mysteries centered around trains like the original California Zephyr. I think you’ll enjoy her informative post, especially if you like mysteries and/or trains.

I love this process of negotiating their places in the family, Pat! And that’s a great ‘photo. I’ll bet both Katie and Sassy do kick up their share of dust when they get going! Looking forward to Janet Dawson’s whistle stop! 🙂

I honestly need to carry my camera every moment, Margot. I’ve missed some great shots because it was out of reach. Live and learn!!

Animals are fascinating, aren’t they? Last week I dog sat for my sister’s tiny Teddy Bear (a mix between a Bichon Frise and a Shih Tzu). Our black Lab was happy for the company and very hospitable to the little guy, who took over our Lab’s bed.
Patricia says
They definitely are fascinating. Sassy is the first dog I’ve had since 1985. That doggie was a pug and his personality was so different from Sassy’s that I’m learning all over again.
Susan Gourley says
That must be so adorable to watch them get acquainted. I’m always amused when pets watch TV.
Patricia says
I wish the cat would get interested in TV, Susan. Maybe they’d watch together and I could get something else done.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
They are stalking each other…
Patricia says
Alex, I think Katie Cat is doing more of the stalking….but Sassy has a great tracking nose and can’t be fooled for long. She knows with her nose, long before I see the cat’s around.
L. Diane Wolfe says
They’re doing better than our cat would do with a new dog.
Patricia says
Hi Diane — it was going pretty well until Sassy went into super hyper-mode yesterday. And the cat seemed to sense what was going on, so she kept running through the house, knowing full well the dog was still attached to me by the leash. I nearly had my arm wrenched out of its socket when Sassy tried to join the fun. I think I need to give both of them a little calming medicine (and maybe a dose for me, too).
