I will be featuring posts from nine Northern Colorado authors during the month of June. Their interests and works range from poetry to nonfiction to fiction. Tomorrow my guest is Dean K. Miller, haiku writer extraordinaire. He also writes other types of poetry, inspirational articles, and more. I never considered writing haiku until Dean offered a “haiku for you” table at the Northern Colorado Writers Conference this year. Once exposed to his talent, however, I put my own non-poetic mind to work and came up with this one.
Unlikely buddies,
Katie Cat and Sassy Dog,
Touched noses today.
Now I need to come up with one about Sassy Dog chasing Katie Cat all over the house….
I hope you’ll visit this blog often during the month of June. My guests will appear on Mondays and Thursdays. My plan (hah, we know about my plans, don’t we?) is to add my own posts on Saturdays. I’ll try, honest I will. I hope to have some good news to announce before the month is over.
Dean Miller says
Hey Everyone! A little late to the party, but I’ll see ya’ll tomorrow.
Pat: You get an A+ for your haiku!
April Moore says
Looking forward to it (you know how I love Northern Colorado writers)! Great haiku!
Margot Kinberg says
I like your haiku, Pat. And I am glad that Katie and Sassy are getting along. Looking forward to reading what you and your guests have to say.
Patricia says
Katie and Sassy are getting along most of the time. When Sassy gets too rowdy in her efforts to entice cat into puppy-type play, Katie launches into a series of hisses that even scare me. So far she hasn’t raised a claw, though.
Donna Volkenannt says
I’ll be sure to stop by this month.
Patricia says
I’ll bet you’ll find several of those upcoming guests of interest, Donna.
Rachna Chhabria says
Loved your haiku, Patricia. I have written just 2 haikus in my life. I find them very difficult to write.
Patricia says
I thought haiku was very difficult too, Rachna. I’m definitely not a poet, but there’s something a bit mathematical about haiku, like a really good puzzle. Dean’s take on using haiku as a writing prompt (see tomorrow’s guest post) is rather clever.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Dean’s awesome! You bet I’ll be back.
Patricia says
Dean’s accomplishments are many and varied. And I hear he’s an incredible fly fishing instructor too.
