The five books in The Judas Files series present an original concept of Hell with Judas Iscariot leading a not-so-merry band of hellish souls who are supposed to sow discord and disaster Topside. There’s a secret mission, however, to thwart the evil and save humanity. Gabe is that double agent. What’s even more difficult is outsmarting his brilliant and beautiful partner who does not know Gabe is sabotaging her efforts. Getting Alex to go along with his secret plans is not easy for Gabe.
This story line may seem like a very grim series, but the excellent characters have a mocking approach to events and their daily challenges that makes the reader laugh and cringe at the same time. This is sarcasm (and snarkiness) at its best.
The introduction of the duck (Quack) in book four, War Origin, was a special treat. The unwitting savior of Gabe’s soul, which has been leaking all over the place because of a unique illness, Quack is delightful and his snarky eccentricities priceless.
In book five, Final Ruin, which was released March 24th, Gabe is recovering from being recycled. When all humanity is threatened and the Four Horsemen are unleashed, Gabe and Alex face what seems to be a losing battle.
Each of the five adventures is satisfying and different from the last, but I would highly recommend reading the series in order.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Unique take on angels. Although if the four horsemen have been unleashed, not much they do about it then.
Patricia Stoltey says
It appears the angels are a hands-off crowd. That’s kind of scary. 😀
