Guest Bloggers
Every week I plan to feature a guest author on Thursday/Friday. I have plenty of Thursdays open January through March, so if you’re interested in being one of my featured guests, just let me know. If you don’t already have my email address, you can leave your contact information below in the comments or send me a private message on Facebook. At that time, I’ll also give you my submission guidelines for length, photos, etc.
Guest posting can be especially helpful if you have a book release scheduled or some special event to promote, so don’t hesitate to contact me for future months as well. My guest this Thursday is Tracee Sioux whose October 2014 book release (The Year of YES!: What if you said YES! to everything your Soul told you to do for one year?) has a title eerily similar to Shonda Rhimes new book (Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person). I’m excited to read both of these books….I think I need a little boost to become more adventurous.
Snow?
We’re supposed to get snow starting sometime this afternoon. Predictions are iffy again, but the temperatures are already dropping and the wind has picked up, so maybe we’ll get at least a couple of inches. Maybe.
Rehabbing the Knee and Reading While I Ice a Sore Muscle
I guess I was a little over-enthusiastic with my exercises and physical therapy because I managed to pull a muscle in the front of my thigh. It’s not too serious because I can walk, climb stairs, and use the exercise bike, but most of the exercises that use the quads are pretty painful. And that’s why I’m about to head back to my easy chair and plant an ice pack right where it hurts the most.
The only thing that’s good about this development is that I gain an extra hour or so of reading time each day this week while I’m icing. I’m now reading This Side of Midnight First Light by Al Lamanda.
My most recent good reads include The Child Garden by Catriona McPherson, The Devil’s Lament by Kenneth W. Harmon, The White Gates by Bonnie Ramthun, Big Magic: Creative Living Without Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert, and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo. I enjoyed all of these books, but ran into a mental block when Marie Kondo’s organizing strategies started to involve proper folding of shirts and socks. That’s not happening here. The organizing strategies she outlines, however, make good sense…..except I need to start with furniture and electronics and leave the clothing category until later.
The World Hurts and I Don’t Have Any Idea How to Fix It
Even though I’m able to read some fictional horror, I have a hard time dealing with horror in real life. The murder of innocent people in countries around the world is painful to watch. It reduces me to tears, makes me feel helpless and lost, and causes me to fear the unknown. I don’t know how people who’ve lived in a war zone environment for most of their lives cope. You won’t find me being philosophical on social media because I don’t have any answers for anything. And that’s all I have to say about that.
