I am as happy as any housebound writer in a pink foot cast could be.
With tons of time on my hands this month, getting my information into this new site set up by my friend Carolyn Yalin, owner of Upperdale Designs, has been no problem…except for figuring out a couple of the special pages without running to Carolyn for help.
As my husband often says to me, “I know, you’d rather do it yourself.” It’s true. I prefer to play and experiment and mess until I figure things out. It’s easier to remember that way. Luckily, I did not crash the site while I was exploring and playing. And Carolyn is bailing me out as needed. So far, so good.
There are things I will be adding and tweaking as time goes by, but I have the main thing I want: a simple one-stop site for book information, me background, and blog posts (mine and guests).
While I’m continuing to work on the site, I’m writing, lots. The details are over on the About Page.
I mention Camp NaNoWriMo there. Blogger/author Dani Greer lured me into participating so I’m bumbling along with the beginnings of a new project while I keep plugging away on the works in progress. Some people never learn to do one thing at a time.
If you want to subscribe to new blog posts by email, you can do that at the top of the page.
Guest bloggers will return starting in May.
May 7th Mar Preston
May 14th Rich Keller
May 21st Samantha Fountain
May 28th Allan Emerson
In the meantime, I’ll be posting here with news and thoughts and a bit of rambling on the side. I hope you’ll drop by often.

Great spanking new site, crisp, interesting fast loading, contemporary feel. You should see mine LOL.

Thanks for stopping by!. I had a separate website I built myself…and you could tell…and it rarely got updated. The blog was a little better, but this way I’ll have everything in one place. I think I’m going to be very happy here.

And what a lovely new site it is! I’m with you on messing around yourself- if you’re gonna be able to edit it you gotta be comfortable with it.
So glad I followed Alex’s like here!
Patricia says
Thanks for coming over, Beverly. Alex is a dear heart to his blogging family. I appreciated him a whole bunch.
Michelle Mach says
It looks terrific! Carolyn did an amazing job.
Patricia says
I second that, Michelle. And she’s helping me learn the WordPress stuff I don’t know so I can self-manage the site going forward. I’m very pleased with the way it’s going.
Susan Gourley says
I found you. I like the pink cast and despite your cheerful words, I know it’s not comfortable. Like the new place.
Patricia says
Well, Susan, I will admit the darned cast feels heavy and is truly cramping my style, but whining gets so tiresome. Anyway, I’m getting so much other stuff done I just have to be thankful I didn’t break something that would impact my ability to use the laptop. And who among us hasn’t wished for more time to read? I have it now.

Change is good! The site looks great.

I like change too., Stephen, but it’s one of the reasons I had to opt out of the A to Z Challenge for the first time. Hopefully I’ll be back in the swing of things by next April.

I like the set-up of the site, Pat, although I miss the photo you used to have at the top. Will you add one here? As for the charming photo of your pink cast, it made me want to know what happened to your poor leg or foot, though I don’t mean to pry…
Patricia says
Hi Cara! I wanted to keep the main page as uncluttered as possible so the photos from the blog posts and my book covers pop more. Focusing on easy navigation and using a bigger variety of photographs is part of my plan. The picture I had on the old blog was of Horsetooth Reservoir just west of Fort Collins. I think I’ll put it over on my About Me page as I add more content there.

Nice new look. And I’m with you…I’d rather play around and figure things out o my own, especially if I have an expert on hand to call when I gt into trouble.
Patricia says
Having the expert ready to jump in sure does help. I don’t know for sure what she would do if I crashed the site though. I’m trying to be very careful.
Rebecca Douglass says
Oh, your poor foot! I spent a few weeks on the couch a couple of years ago, after a foot surgery. Drove me mad, and typing on my lap wasn’t good for the back! Hope you are better set up and healing fast!
Patricia says
I get pretty tired of sitting, Rebecca, but at least I’m getting some writing done. So far my back is holding up well in my most comfy chair….at least if I can keep the cat from trying to take over.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
It looks great!
Doing a project with Dani? Tell her Alex says hey.
Patricia says
We’re in the same Camp NaNoWriMo cabin, Alex — I’ll tell her hey for you.

Be sure to stop by today, Patricia! Surprise for you.

This is fabulous, Pat! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us here.
Patricia says
Oh, some guests here, more posts and photos from me, and maybe even a rant or two.
