Happy Mother’s Day!

May 10, 2009 By: Patricia

Note that I, being a mother, slept in today. Doesn’t matter than my kids are all grown up and live many states away. I pamper myself on Mother’s Day.

I already called my own mother, who is celebrating her 90th birthday today. My brother is preparing k-bobs on the grill for her. He already made potato salad and I think he even baked her a cake. I wish I was going to be there. I like all those things, especially when my brother does the cooking.

My stepdaughter is enjoying her very first Mother’s Day as a mommy. Her precious baby girl just turned four weeks old.

And here in my corner of Colorado, the day began a bit gray and rainy and breezy, but the sun is threatening to come out. My Sunday newspaper was soaking wet and is now spread across the living room floor to dry. I’ll spend a good part of the day at my computer, catching up on chores I neglected while traveling. And I’ll watch some of the TV shows I recorded while I was gone so will finally get to see last week’s Adam Lambert performance on American Idol. Should be a lovely Mother’s Day.

I think it’s wonderful that your mom’s birthday is on Mother’s Day this year! It sounds like she had a happy day, too.

What a charming and reflective Mother’s Day you’ve described! All the things that make it special–from calling your mom to your info about the new mom in your family.

You even make the rain sound cool.

Thanks for looking me up, Stephen. I know. I’m a promo delinquent. I hate asking friends and acquaintances to do anything for me, although I at least urge folks to ask their libraries to order my book. My new book comes out in August (it was just posted to the amazon.com site without the book cover). I’m going to focus more on internet opportunities this time around, so will make a better effort on the amazon and B&N review opportunities. May go there and blog as well. Thanks for the nudge. I need to make a list.

If I could design an ideal Mother’s day, I’d for sure try to make it look the one you’re into. Except for the rain. What’s with that?

Of course, we could just say, like mothers, rain is nurturing…and where would we be without rain–or mothers. Happy Mother’s day to you.

    Hi Patricia,
Kudos to you for sleeping in and taking care of yourself. Just got home from taking mother-in-law to zoo for concert and picnic lunch. It was lovely, but way too hot. She just loved seeing the polar bears cavorting around in the water. She’s 88 and still has such a zest for life. She’s a great role model and I adore her.

Welcome back home and happy Mother’s Day.

I went to Barnes and Noble and see your books do not have any reader reviews.

Have you asked people who have read them to submit reviews? I have asked readers to leave comments at B&N and Amazon and some did. It helps promote your books if you want agents to look for reviews by readers and other review sources.

Your Mother’s Day sounds lovely and relaxing. I still have two teenagers at home, so mine’s….not *g*
